The Psychology of Luck
Recent studies have shown that being a lucky person has much more to due with personal choices and attitude than actual luck. A study done by Professor Richard Wiseman showed that lucky people have a more open perspective of the world. In other words, their carefree attitudes let them see opportunities that give them a more positive experience in life.
On the contrary unlucky people tend to focus heavily on the objective and miss out on other opportunities that are not so easily discovered. Wiseman uses the example that when unlucky people go to a party, they are so focused on finding a special someone that they miss out on becoming friends with the other people at the party which might lead to exciting fun experiences in their life (or finding that special someone).
Using some of the techniques he found that lucky people commonly use, Wiseman trained some of the unlucky people to think lucky. The results were astounding, the people who thought lucky felt more happy and overall more lucky. So next time you feel like you’re having a bad day, just remember to think positive, it might just turn itself around.
